Pipe Dream was conceived in 2021 as an imaginary journey across offshore pipelines spurred by the disastrous
Nord Stream 2 project built under the Baltic Sea for the transportation of russian gas to Germany. Six months
after the launch, Pipe Dream became a self-fulfilling prophecy foretelling September’s clandestine bombings.
Developed as a response to power abuse and natural resources exploitation it envisions revolt against oppression
sparked by violence. Through interactive digital environments, action-loaded mechanics and sorcery rituals,
Pipe Dream addresses neoliberal energy trade politics, its role in the imperialistic wars/ military occupations
and raises the necessity of the embargo on fossils exported by the aggressors-extractivists.
Following pipeline explosions, we integrated an additional level to contextualize the piece in light of these
events. We believe it is important to show Pipe Dream to the European public considering the fact that since
the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the EU bought russian fossil fuels for more than 137 billion euros and
those funds are undoubtedly used by russian state to commit more crimes against Ukrainians and beyond.
